The medical assistant program is to prepare
students for employment in today’s modern medical office
setting. Students will learn to assist physicians during
examinations and treatments and perform a variety of laboratory
and clinical procedures such as, phlebotomy, EKG, injections,
bandage wraps, vision and hearing tests, hemoglobin, hematocrit,
glucose, urinalysis, cultures, irrigations, minor office
surgical procedures, pharmacology, administration of medication,
anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, medical law and
ethics and more. Students will also learn medical insurance
billing and coding and other medical office procedures including
keyboarding, Microsoft Office Applications and transcription.
Students will also become certified in OSHA, HIPAA, First Aid
and CPR.
